GAYAMAN VISUAL STUDIO, LLC
Solar Panel Thermal Inspection
in Miami and South Florida
Solar panels fail quietly. A cracked cell, a failing bypass diode or a loose connection rarely shows up on the electric bill until output has already dropped. A drone with a radiometric thermal camera finds those faults from above, in a single flight, while they are still small.
Gayaman Visual Studio, llc produces dated, standards-based thermal reports for homeowners, businesses, associations, installers and public adjusters across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Booking opens November 2026.

What a thermal scan finds
A healthy module runs at a fairly uniform temperature. A faulty one runs hotter, and the camera sees it even when the glass looks perfect. A scan can show:
-
Hot cells and cracked or degraded cells
-
Failed bypass diodes and affected substrings
-
Loose or corroded connectors and junction-box faults
-
Whole modules or strings that are offline
-
Shading and heavy soiling that are costing output
Every finding is paired with a visual photo, so you can see what the fault looks like and where it is on the roof or field.
Who it's for
-
Homeowners and businesses: a condition check, a baseline, or a scan after a storm.

-
Public adjusters: independent documentation of an array's condition.

-
Solar installers and O&M companies: commissioning scans, warranty evidence and callback triage.

-
HOAs, condo associations and property managers: annual scans and pre-season baselines.

-
Buyers, sellers, agents and lenders: a dated report on the solar system when a property changes hands.
Services
-
Solar thermal inspection. A full radiometric drone scan of every module and string. Each anomaly is located, photographed in thermal and visual, and graded by severity. Conditions are logged at capture.
-
Pre-season baseline scan. A dated condition record captured before hurricane season, which starts June 1. If a storm hits, a before-and-after comparison is the strongest documentation you can give your insurer or adjuster.
-
Post-storm documentation. Rapid, GPS-tagged and time-stamped visual and thermal documentation after a named storm, hail or lightning event.
-
Installer services. Commissioning scans at handover, evidence for manufacturer warranty claims, and aerial photo and video of finished projects.
-
Transaction scan. A condition report on the solar system when a property is bought, sold or refinanced.
How it works
- Request a quote. Tell us the address and the size of the array. A flat fee is quoted for each scan, with no percentage of any claim or settlement.
-
We schedule a clear-sky window. Thermal scans need strong, steady sun, so we fly near midday on a clear day. The system must be on and producing, so you don't need to switch anything off.
-
We fly the array. We fly the scan and handle airspace authorization for you.
-
You get a report. A branded PDF with annotated thermal and visual images, anomaly locations, severity classes and a log of the conditions at capture.
-
We walk you through it. A short call to explain the findings. Repairs go to your installer or a licensed contractor.
What the report is, and what it isn't
The report is an objective record of your array's thermal condition on a specific date and under logged conditions. It follows the approach in IEC TS 62446-3, the international standard for thermography of PV systems. It does not state why a fault occurred. When the cause matters, as in a disputed claim, the report is designed to support analysis by a licensed engineer. Thermal imaging also can't see every cell microcrack; electroluminescence testing is the standard method for those.
Pricing
Each scan is quoted as a flat fee based on the size and layout of the array and the location. Send us the address and a photo of the roof or field, and we reply with a quote [within one business day]. We never charge a percentage of a claim.

About the photographer
Rodrigo Gaya Villar is a Miami documentary and editorial photographer who runs Gayaman Visual Studio. He brings the same careful, evidence-first approach to solar arrays that he brings to gallery, museum and editorial work. For installers, the same flight can also deliver aerial photo and video of finished projects.
Frequently asked questions
-
How much does a solar thermal inspection cost? Each scan is quoted as a flat fee based on the size of the array and where it is. Send the address and we'll quote it.
-
How long does it take? Most residential and small commercial arrays take under an hour of on-site flying. Reports follow within a few business days.
-
Do I need to be home, or turn off my panels? You don't need to be home if we can reach the site. The system should be on and producing during the scan, because thermal faults show up under load.
-
When is the best time to scan? On a clear day near midday, when sunlight on the panels is strong and steady. IEC TS 62446-3 asks for high, stable irradiance, so we reschedule if clouds build, which happens often in Miami's summer afternoons.
-
Can thermal imaging detect hail or storm damage? It can reveal faults that follow a storm, such as hot spots and failed cells, even when the glass looks unbroken. It can't tell you what caused a fault, and some microcracks only show on electroluminescence testing.
-
Can you work with my insurance company or public adjuster? Yes. We document the condition of the array and don't estimate claim value or negotiate. Our fee is a flat fee that doesn't depend on the outcome of a claim.
-
What standard does the report follow? IEC TS 62446-3 for thermography of PV systems, with irradiance, temperature, wind and cloud conditions logged for each scan.
