Johnny Robles, Open The Light, KDR305
October 17 – November 14, 2021
From KKDR GALLERY:
KDR305 presents Open The Light, an exhibition featuring new paintings by Miami artist Johnny Robles. The body of work stems from various mediums and techniques Robles uses to emulate a naturally occurring optical phenomenon. Scientifically known as a Glory Rainbow, the illusion materializes from tiny water droplets or mist in the atmosphere scattered by light from the sun or moon that reflects back towards the viewer, creating a saintly halo effect.
Open the Light is a reference to the sense of peace and openness the paintings emanate. Robles carefully chose each color based on the visual sensitivity and a responsive process to their interaction. The works represent Robles’ past and present interests with nature, color theory, and the spiritual realm.
