Mexico City Earthquake 2017

On September 19, 2017, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck Mexico City, killing over 300 people and collapsing dozens of buildings across the city. Rodrigo Gaya Villar was present, and in the days that followed, documenting the community-led rescue efforts, the grief, and the extraordinary solidarity that emerged across the city's neighborhoods. This series is part of his ongoing documentary work in Mexico City.
